New online parking rental firm out to disrupt the market

A young entrepreneur has launched what he claims is a disruptive marketplace for low-price rented parking spaces.

William Lunn, 25, has launched Place2Park at MediaCityUK in Salford, but is now expanding into London.

Lunn graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University and worked at a digital development centre, but then realised he wanted to be involved in a business which provides an “every-day service”, before launching the business eight months ago.

He now has around 10,000 parking spaces already available on the online platform with locations to park on offer in many urban centres, including Manchester, Liverpool, Bistol, London, Sheffield and Leeds.

“At a parking station which charges £6.50 for two hours, we can provide a nearby alternative for £3.80 a day,” he said. “The way we do it is we specialise in long-term rentals – typically 30 days.”

“We’ve got around 40 to 50 drivers parked already, and we are currently expanding our online platform to cope with further increase and demand.”

Lunn said that because of the numerous benefits of the sharing economy, people who have unused parking places can generate a hassle- free second income using Place2Park.

“There is a major gap in the market,” he added. “We are a start-up aiming to disrupt the market, providing users with a simple online solution to save or make money from parking.”
