Class of 92’s non-league football club gets major sponsor

Peter Done

Salford City, the non-league football club co-owned by Manchester United’s Class of 92 legends, has signed a major sponsorship deal with employment law firm Peninsula.

The sponsorship deal will mean, that Peninsula, founded by Salford-born entrepreneur Peter Done, will be the main title sponsor for the National League North club for the next five years.

Newly-named The Peninsula Stadium was unveiled by the Class of 92’s former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Class of 92 are the former footballers Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt.

Peninsula group managing director Done said: “Salford City FC was a great fit for Peninsula. We operate on the same guiding principles; we both like to shake up traditional ways of doing things; to press forward when others rest on their laurels; to keep improving, and to offer the best service possible to our clients, whether it be in the office or on the pitch.

“Salford, as a city and community, means a huge amount to me; it was great to be able to contribute in a special way to the city where I was born, raised and still live, whilst raising the profile of Peninsula through this fantastic sponsorship opportunity.”

A statement released on behalf of Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt (CO92) said: “When we were looking for partners, Peninsula seemed the perfect choice, a local born company, with offices in Salford and a major employer in the North West area.

“That was important to us, for the culture of the club, as well as the local area that people from the area invested.”
