Fintech firm ‘to bring 100 jobs’ to Manchester

82 King Street, Manchester

Fintech group Ebury plans to recruit 100 staff for its regional hub which has opened in Manchester today.

It has launched with 13 people in offices in King Street, which it expects to quickly outgrow. Ebury has ambitions to make Manchester one of its largest offices in Europe, supporting corporates with trade finance and foreign exchange services.

UK managing director Paolo Giabardo said: “It is a very exciting time for Ebury and opening an office in another major city is a key factor in our expansion.”

Accounts filed last month showed a 60% jump in revenues for the year to April, to £36.5m, and pre-tax profits of £4.8m. The group has been named in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 – which ranks the fastest-growing UK technology companies – for three consecutive years, and is continuing to grow at pace.

The London-headquartered business has more than 500 staff with offices in seven other European countries and is expanding its geography quickly. It is opening in Portugal and Belgium before the end of this year, and will expand outside of Europe for the first time with offices in Canada and the UAE.

Its Manchester office will be headed by Richard Baigent, who has joined from HSBC where he was UK head of corporate mid-market growth.

Baigent, who becomes Ebury’s head of regional sales in the UK, said: “Opening an office in Manchester allows us to recruit from a pool of graduate talent eager to contribute to the success of Ebury, and be closer to our client base outside of our London headquarters.”
