Traffic Alert: Deluge forces closure of M6 in Cumbria
Severe weather has forced the closure of the M6 between junctions 36 and 35 in Cumbria.
Heavy rainfall has caused the adjacent Lancaster canal to overflow and affect the southbound carriageway of the motorway.
Drivers are being advised to follow the solid black square symbol led diversion, which is to exit the M6 at junction 36 and follow the A590 northbound towards Brettagh Holt roundabout.
From there, continue on to the A6 southbound signed Milnthorpe before carrying on to the A6 junction with the A601 (M) and follow this road to rejoin the M6 at junction 35.
