Planning secured for Wigan scheme

Full planning has been given for a residential scheme in Wigan.

Manchester-based HOW Planning worked with Bellway Homes to secure the approval for the development comprising 157 homes at Landgate in Bryn.

Bellway said the scheme will make a “valuable and significant contribution” to the Council’s housing supply comprising a combination of two storey family homes with car parking, private gardens as well as all infrastructure and associated works at the 7.7ha site.

The planning approval also includes the first part of an integral spine road which will enable future development of the wider area.

The decision at Landgate follows approval for a residential scheme at the former Horwich Loco Works in Bolton. The plans were submitted to Bolton Council by HOW, who were successful in securing outline permission for the wider 76ha Rivington Chase development in 2015.

The Bellway scheme, comprising 112 new homes, is the first application to be approved at Rivington Chase.

James Berggren, senior planner at HOW, said: “It is great to be working with one of the country’s largest and most established house builders. Bellway Homes works to deliver schemes which have a strong regional identity, meeting local housing needs and with these approvals we are confident the schemes in Wigan and Bolton will be similarly successful developments.”
