Redrow gets green light for 158 new homes at Omega

Omega South

The go-ahead has been given for the building of a mix of 158 new homes on Omega South near Warrington.

Planning permission has been granted to Omega Warrington and Redrow Homes, while an application for a further 86 new Redrow homes on neighbouring land is still under consideration.

The Redrow scheme will become phase two of a residential development on Omega South that will, through multiple housebuilders, deliver up to 1,100 homes over the next 10 years. Construction for phase one of 200 homes is already underway by Miller Homes.

Colin Graham, development director at Omega Warrington, said: “Our selection of Redrow follows significant interest earlier this year from a variety of major national housebuilders when the opportunity to build phase two was put out to market. We believe Redrow’s credentials make them the right housebuilder to deliver the quality of new homes we have committed to at Omega.”

Redrow’s Omega operation will be in two phases. The first, which now has planning consent, comprises 158 two, three and four-bedroom properties, including 48 starter homes. A second phase of 86 larger three, four and five-bedroom detached homes is also planned.

Steve Greenhalgh, managing director of Redrow Homes (Lancashire), said: “With everything from affordable two-bedroom apartments and two/three-bedroom terraces, to large four and five-bedroom detached homes we will have something for just about everyone.

“With good public transport links, access to the M62 and close proximity to shops, services and schools, including the new Barrow Hall Primary, this is an excellent location for new homes and we are pleased to be part of the Omega story.”

Redrow’s first phase of homes will occupy a site of approximately 14.5 acres off Sophia Drive. Work will commence imminently to prepare the site for development.

Warrington Borough Council granted Outline Planning Permission in June, 2016 for 1,100 new homes on Omega South to provide a range of properties for all family sizes and pockets, including affordable housing.

Omega is being delivered by Omega Warrington Ltd (OWL) in partnership with landowner the Homes and Communities Agency and supported by Warrington Borough Council and the Cheshire and Warrington LEP.
