Liverpool Echo is moving house

The Trinity Mirror-owned Liverpool Echo newspaper is moving to a new home in the city – across the road from its current base.

The news organisation has been based in Old Hall Street since 1973 after moving from Victoria Street.

It said today (Friday, December 15) it is moving to 5 St Paul’s Square development, which faces it across Old Hall Street. The Echo hopes to move in March.

Carl Wood, regional managing director for parent company Trinity Mirror North West & North Wales, said: “This is a very exciting move as our new offices will further enhance our digital capabilities and support our future growth ambitions.

“These ultra modern offices will also provide a light and bright working environment for all, reinforcing our position as the leading digital-first media business in the region and at the same time, highlighting our commitment to Liverpool and the wider City Region.

“Our current Old Hall Street site will be retained for potential redevelopment, with further announcements on this in due course.”

Editor-in-chief Alastair Machray added: “This is a superb office space which is perfect for our business needs.

“It is at the heart of the city region we are proud to serve and is a great launchpad for our ambitions.”
