£15m care home scheme on former industrial estate starts

Work to build a £15m care home facility on a former industrial estate is under way.

Located on the site of the former Mayflower Industrial Estate on Liverpool Road in Formby, the 76 bed centre will create around 80 jobs.

It will be the seventh care facility for New Care, a fast growing development-led care home operator.

The 4,000sq m home will provide a clinical offering, including residential, nursing and specialist dementia care services.

CEO at New Care, Chris McGoff, said: “We are delighted to have started work on site and are very much looking forward to introducing the New Care brand to Formby.  The plans for our latest care facility are superb; we will deliver a sophisticated, modern, purpose-built home which offers high quality care with first class hotel-style services.”

Part of the McGoff Group, New Care will work with its build partner, principal contractor McGoff Construction, also part of the McGoff Group, throughout the entire design and construction process.

McGoff added: “It is a very exciting time for New Care with the company continuing to expand.  Having recently opened care homes in Sale (Greater Manchester) and Lytham St Annes, and a further home due to open in Chester in early 2018, we are thrilled to have added Formby to our ever growing portfolio.”

Demolition on site has now started and construction is expected to be complete in early 2019.
