Tributes are flowing following the sudden passing of well-known property consultant David Guest, aged just 45, following a suspected heart attack.

Guest led Bruntwood’s Liverpool office 1997 to 2013 after launching his career as an office agent at Mason Owen in Liverpool.

After he left Bruntwood to set up his own company, he was retained by the commercial property developer and developer on a consultancy basis.
Chief executive Chris Oglesby described Guest as “one of the kindest and most genuine people who I have had the pleasure to work with”.

He went on: “He was always driven by doing the right thing and cared passionately about customers, colleagues and the wider community. He will be sorely missed by us all.”

Guest was hired by BizSpace as a property director in 2013 to acquire sites for its office and industrial expansion across the UK.

A statement from Biz Space said: “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the passing of David Guest. David was foremost a friend as well as a colleague of the BizSpace team and was much-loved by all.

“Joining as property director in 2013, David was quick to become part of the BizSpace family, bringing with him a huge amount of experience as a well-established figure in the real estate industry.

“He had a deep passion for the business and its people and we will all miss him very much. His enthusiasm, commitment, generosity of spirit and humour benefited all those who knew and worked with him.

“David was hugely respected both by colleagues and contemporaries throughout the industry and will be remembered for his warmth and his lasting contribution to BizSpace, its culture and its people.”

Meanwhile, Bruntwood’s head of marketing and communications Ian Wilson took to Twitter to say: “So sad to hear the news about David Guest. Such a shock. I had the pleasure of working closely with David for Bruntwood when he ran the Liverpool office from The Plaza. Great to be around, funny, witty, a true professional and he always had a smile to greet you. RIP Guesty.

Guest, who lived in Chorlton with his wife and two children, served as chairman of the Liverpool Commercial BID from 2007 to 2013, and as director of the Sefton Chamber of Commerce.

He also sat on the development committee for Tate Liverpool, and was a member of the Liverpool Merseyside Theatres Trust.

Bill Addy, chief executive of Liverpool BID Company, said: “I am shocked and saddened to hear of David’s death, and at such a young age.

“It was David’s vision and enthusiasm that led to the creation of the Commercial District BID, he was responsible in a great measure for its successful launch and his contribution to making it the organisation it is cannot be underplayed. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.”
