Veterinary firm creates jobs with £250,000 investment in new practice

White Cross Vets is expanding into Hyde, Greater Manchester opening a state of the art practice that will be one of the most advanced in the city region, as part of a £250,000 investment creating five jobs.

The family-run group already operates 17 practices, employing a 200-strong team, and it has a particularly strong presence in the North West with sites in Walkden, Widnes, St Helens and Liverpool.

This latest practice opened this week on the site of the former Bay Horse Pub, which is currently benefiting from a major £1.5m redevelopment.

The Yorkshire-headquartered practice offers a range of pioneering initiatives including pheromone diffusers to relax pets, separate, sound proofed wards for dogs, as well as a specialist cat ward featuring kennels that are positioned so cats can’t see each other to further minimise stress levels.

The Hyde team will be headed up by vet Mike Robinson who has been appointed as clinic director. He will be joined by local veterinary nurses Anneliese O’Toole & Aimee Lee.

Robinson said: “Tameside is home to an enormous number of pet lovers with dogs and cats providing a huge amount of happiness to local families.  I’m extremely pleased we’ve been able to help regenerate an area which has stood empty for five years.  My team are all highly experienced professionals and bring lots of enthusiasm to their new roles.  When this is combined with the practice’s state of the art technology, there’s no doubt our offering will prove to be hugely popular.  We also have the potential to expand the team to approximately 20 people in the next five years, which is an exciting prospect for the local economy.”
