A Deeside company specialising in material handling equipment has seen turnover rise from £2.1m to £2.4m in the last year.

Hannaman is forecasting that sales will hit £3m during the current financial year.

The firm sells, hires, repairs and services forklift trucks, access platforms, floor cleaning machinery and various other material handling equipment.

It has also launched a new catalogue offering customers a comprehensive range of additional material handling products including storage lockers, warehouse racking, lifting tables and health and safety signage.

Managing director Steve Downey completed a management buy-in of the 40-year-old business in December 2013.

During 2017, his daughter Stacey was promoted from operations manager to commercial director.

In total, the company employs 23 people at its 10,000 sq ft base in the Deeside Enterprise Zone.

Steve served nearly 25 years in the British Army’s Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and 10 years in senior management roles before joining Hannaman.

He said: “We are now entering our fifth year since the management buy-in and have enjoyed four years of sustained growth. We now have plans in place to significantly scale the business.

“We will do this by continuing to grow our core forklift business as well as significantly ramping up the sales of our catalogue division.

“We are also in the final stages of planning for a ‘giving back’ loyalty scheme we will be rolling out to all of our customers.

“We are also actively looking at opportunities to acquire other like-minded and complementary companies in the North West and Wales.

“We are passionate about ensuring the best possible customer experience by doing the right things, adding in value for money and investing time in building long-term business relationships.”
