BTP-designed housing scheme in Congleton given green light

A new housing development designed by BTP in a semi-rural area has been granted planning permission by Cheshire East Council.

The architectural firm has designed 94 homes across two sites off Manchester Road and Biggs Way in Congleton, an area with high land values.

BTP is working for Laurus Homes (part of Trafford Housing Trust) and Seddon Construction on the contract worth around £8m.

Work is expected to start on site later this year.

The scheme, to be called Giantswood Grove, will provide a range of two to five-bedroom homes with 70% private sale and 30% shared ownership/affordable rent.

To facilitate selling off plan, the four-bed homes have interchangeable floor plates, with the option of either en-suites or Jack and Jill bathrooms on the first floor.

Paul Westhead, head of new business development, Trafford Housing Trust, said: “We are delighted these new homes in Congleton have received the go ahead from Cheshire East Council. The properties have been designed with real attention to detail from BTP and will provide a range of private and affordable housing options for local people.”

Vicky Saunders, managing director at BTP, said: “We are looking forward to continuing to work closely with Laurus Homes and Seddon Construction on this exciting project now that planning permission has been secured.”
