Bury firm is on expansion trail once again

The Mailing Room

Bury based franking specialist The Mailing Room has taken over a Sussex rival.

The Mailing Room has acquired MailServe, along with its sister company Monsters Ink.

MailServe is a Royal Mail-approved postroom equipment business based in Haywards Heath.

The Mailing Room specialises in the supply and maintenance of franking machines, mailroom equipment and consumables to a range of private and public-sector organisations.

As part of the deal the previous owner Carl Turner will remain as a senior account manager along with a number of other sales and service staff.

The deal is part of The Mailing Room’s plans to double in size within five years and extends its profile along the M3 corridor.

It follows last year’s acquisition of Mailing Systems Limited of Weston-super-Mare, adding a further 750 customer accounts to its growing portfolio.

Ian Davidson, the group managing director at The Mailing Room, said: “We will bring the same degree of professional customer service to existing MailServe accounts, combined with the added financial strength and comprehensive service provision of a mature market leader.

“In addition to offering a comprehensive range of Mailmark-compliant franking machines, ancillary mailroom equipment and keenly-priced inks and consumables, we will advise our new and current clients on multi-channel workflow systems and online shipping solutions to meet their current and future mailroom needs.”

Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM advised on the deal.

John Gillibrand, corporate finance partner at RSM, said: “The Mailing Room is an ambitious, and acquisitive, business which is committed to enhancing its service provision, market share and operational efficiencies through strategic growth. It was great to support the directors on the latest acquisition which will help shape the future growth of the business.”
