Budget airline group Jet2.com and its Jet2holidays subsidiary will fly from Manchester to Bourgas, in Bulgaria, Chania, in Crete, and Izmir, in Turkey, during next summer’s holiday season.

These new routes follow the recent announcement of another summer destination from Manchester to La Rochelle in France.

The airline said this will add more than 2.8 million seats during summer 2019, a 12% increase in capacity, across 46 destinations.

From May 2019, the company will operate two weekly flights, on Mondays and Thursdays, to Bourgas, offering almost 20,000 seats in its first year of operation.

The destination includes resorts such as Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Obzor and St Vlas.

Jet2’s second new destination for summer 2019 to Chania will add more than 18,000 seats on the route which will operate every Tuesday and Friday, opening up blue flag beaches and historic sites in resorts such as Rethymnon, Aghia Marina, Chania Town, Kalyves, Stalos and Kolymbari.

The new destination to Izmir has been added in response to the huge demand for package holidays to Turkey.

With almost 20,000 seats and services every Wednesday and Saturday, holidaymakers will be able to head to resorts on the west coast of Turkey such as Kusadasi, Cesme, Ozdere and Seferihisar.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief executive Steve Heapy said: “We are extremely excited about our Summer 19 programme from Manchester Airport, which is our biggest and best to date.

“The three fantastic brand new destinations announced today give holidaymakers even more choice with our award-winning airline and package holiday business, and mean a total of four new destinations for Summer 19 from Manchester.

“The addition of flights to Bourgas means we will operate to Bulgaria for the first time, and with resorts such as Sunny Beach on sale, we are expecting it to be hugely popular with local holidaymakers.

“Greece continues to attract holidaymakers in huge numbers, and this new route to Chania in Crete opens up the north west of this beautiful island.

“Finally, Turkey continues to see huge demand, so we are opening up more resorts on the west coast of this fantastic country by adding flights and holidays to Izmir.”

Julian Carr, aviation director for Manchester Airport, said: “It’s great to see Jet2.com adding more new routes from Manchester Airport. We know Bourgas, Chania and Izmir are all hugely popular destinations with our customers.”
