Stockport concrete specialist acquired by Irish group
A Stockport pre-cast concrete specialist has been acquired for an undisclosed sum by Irish firm FLI Group.
Carlow Precast Concrete Engineering will now trade as FLI Carlow.
The firm, based in Bredbury, works in the water, waste water, housing and energy sectors, providing pre-cast concrete structures for clients.
It says it designed and constructed more than 10% of the top 70 UK water projects.
In addition to the Stockbport headquarters the firm also operates offices in Harlow, and Dublin.
In a statement the firm said: “On Thursday 26th April 2018, Carlow Precast became part of the FLI Group and now trade as FLI Carlow.
“While we’re updating our branding and website we’ll continue to bring you the quality and service you expect with the advantage of being part of a stronger global network of complementary specialists in our field.”
The acquisition will see FLI Carlow now focus on its traditional storm water control market, and expand in the renewable energy sector.
FLI Carlow Ireland will focus on manufacturing off-site concrete products for water infrastructure, roads infrastructure, specialist civil engineering, marine, energy and coastal erosion.
FLI Group is based in Waterford.
It was founded in February 1989 and its origins lie in the geosynthetics business, providing engineered landfill lining solutions in Ireland, the UK, throughout Europe, and the rest of the world.
FLI grew and was able to make investments that have transformed the company into an international entity.
In the past 10 years it has acquired a complementary lining business in France, a land remediation company in the UK and two water/wastewater technology and services companies in the UK.
It is currently working on projects in France and French Guyana.
The Carlow Precast Concrete Engineering client base and that of the FLI Group subsidiary companies FLI Water and VertaseFLI share many links and synergies already.
FLI Carlow will build on the solid foundation of the FLI brand, together with the well known and established Carlow brand in the UK and Irish markets.
