Property giant Grosvenor appoints Liverpool One estate director

Grosvenor Europe has announced the appointment of Steven Connolly as Liverpool One’s new estate director.

Mr Connolly, who has more than 20 years’ experience in leading retail and leisure destinations, joins from Festival Place in Basingstoke, where he has been centre director for the past 12 years.

In addition to Festival Place, which was previously owned by Grosvenor, he has held a number of senior positions in key centres around the UK.

Commenting on the appointment, Miles Dunnett, from Grosvenor Europe, said: “Throughout the selection process, Steven’s understanding of Liverpool One’s complexity and the role it plays in the city stood out.

“He has a great track record in not only delivering exceptional commercial results, but of building high performing, multi-disciplinary teams.

“We are confident his collaborative approach will add fresh impetus to the Liverpool One team and also deliver additional benefits with our partners in the Liverpool City Region.”

Mr Connolly added: “Liverpool One is one of the most exciting and relevant retail and leisure destinations in the UK.

The appointment of Mr Connolly coincides with a strong ongoing performance by Liverpool One.

Sales grew by 3.5% in 2017, 2% ahead of the UK average.

In addition, more than 20 brands opened in Liverpool One in the past 12 months, including the largest JD Sports in the UK outside London.

Footlocker is currently preparing to open its biggest store in the world on Liverpool One’s South John Street, Scandinavian fashion and lifestyle brand, COS, will open on College Lane in May, and a new international brand will shortly be opening on Paradise Street.
