Preston-based Roundhouse Properties has acquired a site in Blackburn for £920,000 to develop its Momentum business centre concept.

The property company acquired 3.5 acres on Shadsworth Business Park in Blackburn in April where it will build 68 units providing a total of 4,273 sq m (46,100 sq ft) in commercial space.

The Shadsworth location will be the fourth Momentum Business Centre delivered by Roundhouse Properties.

It has successfully developed other sites at Buckshaw Village, Bamber Bridge and is in the process of completing phase one construction works at its South Rings site, also in Bamber Bridge.

A total of 127 business units in the Momentum model have been brought to the market in the past four years.

Jeremy Lefton, managing director of Roundhouse Momentum Development, said: “Our Momentum business centres have proved to be very popular and we are looking to repeat this success at key sites around the North West.

“We look for locations that offer easy access to key motorway networks and Shadsworth has long been identified as a place where our Momentum model will thrive.”

He added: “There is a strong demand from business owners for this type of property which they can either rent or purchase, but ultimately offer flexible spaces for their businesses to grow.

“We hope to secure planning approval in October and aim to start construction work in early 2019.”
