M6 northbound closure

Please note, route is now clear and there are no closures.

The M6 is closed northbound in Lancashire between J6 (Horwich, Chorley, A6, A673) and J8 (Whittle-le-Woods, Chorley, A6, A674) due to a car fire.

Lancashire Police, Fire & Rescue and Highways England officers are at scene.

Traffic within the closure is being released past the scene.

A diversion is in place for traffic exiting at J6.

Traffic should follow the route marked with a black triangle symbol on local road signs which routes road users through Chorley via the A6 northbound to J8.

Please allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative routes, if possible.
