Texas software giant swoops for Lancashire specialist

Deal agreed

Texas firm Asure Software has bought a Blackburn based manufacturer.

OccupEye, which makes sensor devices, has been bought by the American giant for an undisclosed amount.

The Leeds office of law firm Gateley advised Asure Software on the deal which saw it acquire the entire issued share capital of OccupEye.

Asure Software is a NASDAQ-listed, leading provider of Agile Workplace Solutions, which include Human Capital Management (HCM) and workplace management software.

OccupEye specialises in devices that allow organisations across the world to streamline operations, create efficiencies, improve productivity and analyse employee engagement.

Its technology generates cost savings and creates more employee-focused workplaces.

OccupEye’s technology combined with Asure Software’s existing workplace solutions and HCM services, allows Asure Software to expand its offering while adding its own complementary and proprietary sensor hardware and analytics.

The Gateley team was led by Leeds corporate partner David Armitage, alongside corporate solicitors Rebecca Bennett and Verity Mulkeen.

They were supported by real estate senior associate Marc Warren, as well as employment partners Paul Ball and Gearalt Fahy, all based in the firm’s Leeds office.

This transaction is the latest for Asure Software, which recently acquired two HR/payroll companies in Texas.

In the UK market, Asure Software says more deals will follow, with the business continuing to invest heavily in new technologies.

Pat Goepel, chief executive of Asure Software said: “With the acquisition of OccupEye, Asure Software is now positioned to develop new innovations in the Internet of Things, while offering our clients the technology solution they need to improve the employee experience and drive down costs.

“Our workplace management solution, Smartview, gives insight to companies so they can optimize space for maximum productivity.

“With the addition of our own sensor technology, OccupEye, which integrates with Smartview, we will be able to continue to innovate our Human Capital Management and workplace platform while increasing our sales through new cross-selling opportunities.”

David Armitage, corporate partner at Gateley Plc, added: “It was great to advise Asure Software on this deal which strengthens the business’ portfolio of workplace management solutions and expands its market reach into the UK.

“We wish them well on a successful future with OccupEye as part of the business and look forward to working with the management team again as they continue their ambitious expansion into the UK.”
