Driving force at region’s leading visitor destination to share insights and inspirations

Sue Grindrod

The driving force behind one of the region’s top leisure destinations will be sharing her experiences and insights at a BusinessDesk.Com event next week.

Sue Grindrod, the chief executive of Liverpool’s world-famous Albert Dock, is the guest speaker at our Women in Business Lunch.

The event is being sponsored by telephone service specialist Moneypenny – which is based in Wrexham.

Sue is leading the way as the attraction, which plays host to six million visitors each year, takes the next step in its impressive history.

The chief executive will be talking about her ambitious 175 strategy that is designed to move the attraction forward on to the next stage of its development.

The plans include a brand new welcome pavilion at the docks which is set to be the latest iconic building on Liverpool’s historic waterfront.

Sue has spent more than 20 years working in leisure and tourism for major attractions including Tate Liverpool.

She will explain the story behind the creation of her ambitious ‘175’ strategy which comes to fruition in 2021, when the attraction celebrates 175 years since Prince Albert officially opened Albert Dock in 1846, and the positive impact this will have on the Liverpool City Region.

Working in a predominantly male world, Sue will share her experiences in change management, offer tips on how to make your voice heard, and talk about her belief in keeping an open mind, accepting that you won’t always know the answers, and getting help when required.

She also feels strongly about maintaining a work-life balance and she is perfectly placed to help women who are launching and running their own businesses, or those who are dealing with daily challenges in a corporate world.

Her other roles include chair and director of Liverpool Waterfront Business Partnership CIC and deputy chair of Liverpool Visitor Economy Network (LVEN).

She also sits on the Liverpool World Heritage Site steering group and is director of Heart of Glass, an agency for collaborative and social arts practice based in St Helens, as well as Open Eye, an independent not-for-profit photography gallery in Liverpool.

Join us on this Thursday at Chester Racecourse to hear from Sue and network with women from business and the professional services around the region.
