North West waste firm has new owners after deal goes through

Waste treatment

One of the UK’s largest hazardous waste companies has bought Knowsley based Avanti Environmental Group for an undisclosed amount.

Pannone Corporate advised Tradebe, which is Spanish owned and has UK headquarters in Marlow, on the deal.

Tradebe acquired Avanti from Stericycle in a move to boost its growth plans which are focused on enhancing the company’s position in the UK hazardous waste market.

This is the second strategic acquisition that Pannone has advised Tradebe on in 2018 following on from its earlier acquisition of Labwaste.

Tradebe provides environmental services in the United States, Europe and the Middle East. The company employs 2,150 people and has revenues of around 500 million Euros.

Avanti operates treatment and transfer sites in England and Scotland.

The company employs over 140 people and boasts assets and services including an advanced transfer station in the North West, waste services in the Scottish Central Belt and the Highlands, niche services for the laboratory and automotive markets, and a plastics recycling division.

Tradebe Treatment, Incineration and Recovery Director, Brian Mulholland said: “This is an important acquisition as the two companies are complementary.

“The acquisition will accelerate growth of all our UK operations and will significantly increase Tradebe’s ever-growing waste transfer network. Avanti is a very attractive acquisition due to the high caliber of employees, capabilities and the strong synergies to be gained from this acquisition.”

The corporate team, led by partner Mark Winthorpe and associate Arshnoor Amershi, advised Tradebe.

Other team members included Miranda Foy, Claire Alden, Garry King, Danielle Amor and Gemma Staples.

Mark said: “Tradebe has been a client for many years during which time we have advised the company to date on 12 acquisitions across the full ambit of hazardous waste services.

“It has been a pleasure to work with the Tradebe team on this transaction and great to see Tradebe continue to increases its UK market share and further enhances its reputation as the industry leader in the hazardous waste sector.

“Both companies have excellent synergies and we believe Avanti will have an excellent future as part of the Tradebe Group and will fit seamlessly alongside the existing Tradebe and Labwaste operations.”
