Rainmaker Awards

The votes have been counted and the results have been announced.

The winners of this year’s Rainmaker Awards, which celebrate the achievements of the North West’s finance community, have been announced at a ceremony in Manchester.

The big winners of the night were Equistone – who landed two awards.

Partner Steve O’Hare was named Rainmaker of the Year and his firm also picked up the award for Private Equity Exit Deal of the Year.

The award was made in recognition of the deal which saw Concept Life Sciences sold to Spectris for £163m.

NorthEdge Capital also picked up two awards. The firm won Private Equity Team of the Year and Rising Star of the Year. The Rising Star award went to George Potts from the firm.

Bury based JD Sports purchase of The Finish Line for just over £400m was one of the biggest deals in the region this year.

It won the Public Markets Deal of the Year award and the International Deal of the Year.

The Small Cap Deal of the Year went to teams who worked on the sale of Manchester data business Hello Soda.

The M&A Deal was Inflexion’s £150m investment in Radius Payment Solutions.

Legal team of the year was Addleshaw Goddard, Corporate Finance Team of the Year went to GCA Altium and Funder of the Year was Tosca Debt Capital.

The awards were sponsored by A2E Industries and Together Money, the headline sponsor was Michael Page and charity partner was the NSPCC.

Alex Turner, the joint managing director of TheBusinessDesk.Com, said: “Tonight was a celebration of everything that is great about the corporate finance community in the North West.

“It has been an incredible 12 months and all the signs are that the coming year is going to be even busier.”

He added: “What sets the Rainmaker Awards apart is the fact they are voted on by the corporate finance community through an online survey.

“That means that the people, teams and businesses who have done the best work over the last 12 months are the ones who were recognised on the night.”
