Student accommodation provider makes move into residential market

Lancaster-based accommodation provider CityBlock is expanding into the residential housing market with the launch of The Urban Project which it says aims to help meet the demand for city homes.

The Urban Project has acquired its first site, located in the Jewellery Quarter area of Birmingham.

CityBlock has appointed Andrew Bargh as urban design manager, who will oversee land acquisitions and scheme delivery.

Martin Crews, development director of CityBlock, said: “Expanding into the residential market has been our goal at CityBlock for a long time, with lots of exciting plans in place behind the scenes, so we are delighted to now be able to launch The Urban Project.

“Andrew’s knowledge of both the design process and the residential housing market makes him the ideal person to lead this new arm of the business. CityBlock has a proven track record of providing quality purpose-built student accommodation and we are confident we can use this experience to build and create high quality and unique urban homes.”
