Manchester-based Telcom Group and Pinacl Solutions, from St Asaph in North Wales, today announced their exclusive partnership to bring together two industry players in connectivity and fibre infrastructure deployment.

They said the partnership with Pinacl is a strong signal of intent from both organisations of their desire to collaborate and ensure that cities across the country are able to benefit from the fastest and most reliable internet, transforming local economies and supporting both business and the public sector.

On the back of launching their first ‘hypercity’ in Manchester, Telcom are working with Pinacl to give Newport and Bristol hypercity status using their gigabit fibre networks which, once deployed, will give both cities added capability nationally.

This transformative collaboration will bring the expertise and experience of both organisations to jointly bid for public sector fibre infrastructure projects and the Government’s Local Full Fibre Networks programme.

Telcom Group have recruited Sean Anstee to head up the infrastructure division of the group.

He brings with him strategic political insight, commercial experience in the financial services sector, and following a successful period as the leader of Trafford Council and vice chairman of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority with portfolio responsibility for skills, employment and a digital city region, is well placed to lead the group into the next phase of growth.

Telcom infrastructure chief executive, Mr Anstee, said: “I’m excited about the possibilities our new partnership with Pinacl will create as we deliver on our mission to change the country’s internet and ensure our towns and cities have access to the connectivity they deserve to boost productivity and competitiveness in an increasingly technology enabled, global world.

“Telcom is a Mancunian success story and I’m looking forward to working really hard to help the company grow even faster in future and make a huge contribution to improving connectivity across the country.”

Shaun Gibson, Telcom Group chief executive, added: “The creation of Telcom Group, our new infrastructure division and the partnership with Pinacl enables us to expand in the market and stimulate competition not yet seen in the telecoms sector.

“We are delighted to welcome Sean to the Telcom family and are excited to realise our vision of ubiquitous access to affordable ultrafast internet.

“It is our belief that the internet is a utility, a basic human right, that when readily available is a catalyst for economic growth, technological innovation and empowerment with life changing impact.”

Rob Bardwell, Pinacl Solutions (UK) managing director, said: Having worked with Telcom for some time we are delighted to formalise the relationship through this partnership.

“Both companies have skills and solutions which naturally complement each other, allowing the positioning of us to win nationwide fibre infrastructure projects and by offering a unique blend of skills and experience, unmatched in the current market.”
