Parfett’s continues to build on strong growth

Parfett’s Cash and Carry has achieved record turnover for a second consecutive year, with total sales of £345m, up 6.8%.

Like-for-like sales performance has seen significant growth up by 16.0%, excluding tobacco, for the Stockport-based firm.

Greg Suszczenia, joint managing director, said: “In a difficult trading environment, with so much change in the sector, this strong performance is a testament of our company strategy.

“Recruitment into our retail club schemes, further investment in our powerful promotional offer, and everyday pricing, plus the basics such as great availability across our branches for our customers, have all helped in delivering this outstanding set of numbers.”

The latest results allow all colleagues to enjoy a 4% bonus on top of the 3% paid to them in October last year.

Being a company-owned organisation, colleagues enjoy their bonus as a tax-free payment.

The group continues to recruit new retailers into its retail club schemes.

Go Local, Parfett’s independent fascia, has enjoyed significant growth with 110 new stores joining in the past 12 months.

Guy Swindell, head of marketing, said: “Retailers like the retailer club schemes we offer and that’s proven in the numbers we have seen join us this year.

“A collaboration of great prices, strong promotions, extensive range and outstanding availability have all helped to recruit new stores from other traditional fascia sources.”

With the latest acquisition of the old Blakemore Cash and Carry site in Middlesbrough, Parfett’s says it is well placed to build on its record year of trading.
