Insurance firm planning to recruit 170 extra staff over next two years

Insurance firm Slater Gordon Motor is planning to take on an extra 170 staff over the next two years.

The Blackpool firm is moving into new offices in Talbot Gateway and is planning to double its workforce over the next 18 months.

The company is currently based at Indemnity House in Squires Gate but has agreed a move to Bickerstaffe House.

The 125,000 sq ft office building is currently occupied by Blackpool Council, and Slater Gordon will take the entire first floor.

The firm will move 230 staff to the new offices.

Blackpool Council’s executive committee is being recommended to approve the lease of the first floor of the building, and the ground floor reception area.

Slater Gordon plans to add another 70 staff as a result of the move and is aiming to double staff numbers to around 400 by 2020.

A report to Blackpool Council says the proposal is part of the “strategy to promote town centre regeneration by locating businesses within the CBD (central business district) area and increasing footfall to support the local economy.”

Gordon Solution was founded in 1991 with just six staff.

It floated on AIM in December 1999 and moved to its current offices at Frank Whittle Way on Blackpool Business Park in 2002.
