Warrington-based technology provider Communicate Better has expanded its business by the acquisition of South Wales-based VCUK and VCUK Services, who both trade as Vision Communications, for an undisclosed sum.

The purchase of the Caerphilly mobile services provider offers Communicate Better the opportunity to expand its geographical coverage across the South West, as well as the chance to provide enhanced service offerings to the existing customer base.

Vision will become part of the Communicate Better group, but will continue to operate under the Vision Communications name, with all management and employees remaining in position to ensure continuity of service.

The newly-enhanced company will now be able to supply a wider range of telephony, IT and vehicle telematics services to the Vision Communications customer base.

Wayne Cartwright, chief executive of Communicate Better, said: “The acquisition further consolidates our position as a leading provider of converged solutions and spreads our reach across Wales and the South West of England.

“The acquisition represents a significant increase in the number of mobile connections, with the potential to grow the business further.”

He added: “We still have further acquisition targets in mind and plan to complete further purchases this year, which will significantly contribute to our year on year growth figures.”

Vision Communications managing director, Paul Griffiths, said: “I am delighted that Vision Communications has become part of the Communicate Better Group.

“The opportunity to be part of one of the UK’s most established and fastest-growing providers of converged technology solutions was too good to turn down. The acquisition brings huge benefits to our clients and the future looks very exciting.”

The company is aiming to reach a turnover of £10m this financial year via its combined strategy of acquisition and organic growth.

Communicate Better were advised by Keith Kennedy of Pearson Legal and Ian Johnson of Cowgill Holloway.

Ian Johnson, corporate finance partner, who led the Cowgill Holloway advisory team, said: “We have assisted Communicate Better in its buy and build strategy for a number of years, which has resulted in the group becoming a leading business technology supplier.

“This latest acquisition of Vision Communications will be an excellent addition to the Communicate Better group, and I am delighted that the business will be able to benefit from the opportunities which the acquisition brings going forward.

“The acquisition will further broaden Communicate Better’s scope of services and existing presence across the UK.”

Keith Kennedy, corporate partner at Pearson Legal, added: “We are delighted to have helped Communicate Better with its latest acquisition and look forward to continuing to help the group build on its success of the last few years.”
