Green light for Huyton scheme which could deliver 500 jobs

Henry Boot Barnfield, a joint venture between Henry Boot Developments and Barnfield Construction, has secured detailed planning approval at Beacon 62, its 11.5-acre strategic gateway site in Huyton.

Henry Boot Developments, part of the 130-year old Sheffield-based Henry Boot, has six regional offices and is currently working with a commercial development pipeline exceeding £1bn.

Barnfield Construction is based in Nelson, Lancashire, and has been established for more than 40 years.

The firm is part of the Barnfield Group, who deliver construction, development and investment projects across the UK.

Barnfield take on more than 20 new construction contracts annually and has the capacity to undertake several projects with a value more than £5m simultaneously.

The JV has secured planning approval for a 19,000 sq ft Aldi store, along with 12,000 sq ft employment space to support local businesses, both start-ups and established companies.

Located at the Tarbock roundabout at the junction of the M62 and M57, Beacon 62 has the potential to create up to 480 jobs once fully developed.

Dean Thompson, regional manager at Henry Boot Developments, said: “Beacon 62 is an important gateway site with the potential to create a notable number of new jobs and bring significant investment into the area.

“Our aim is to create a successful, vibrant mixed-use scheme comprising retail, leisure and business use and which creates a new focal point for the area.

“We have eight acres now remaining and discussions with potential occupiers have been positive, so we expect to be able to make further announcements in the near future.”
