Manchester headquartered Northcoders – the coding bootcamp for the North – has added two new tutors to its teaching team.

The new tutors are Anthony Medina and Paul Rogerson.

Both are qualified coders and will be responsible for delivering Northcoders’ curriculum, mentoring students on a group and one-to-one basis, as well as researching and staying abreast of industry news, technology trends and changes in tech.

Before joining Northcoders Anthony taught English in South Korea, while Paul previously worked at an international accountancy firm in IT risk consulting and assurance.

Anthony said of his new role: “I find helping people to learn really rewarding – and I love coding – so Northcoders is the perfect combination of my two passions.

“It’s a truly forward thinking and dynamic business so it’s incredibly exciting to now be part of its journey.”

Over the past few months Northcoders was selected as one of the country’s brightest tech stars in Creative England’s CE50 list, it launched its new Developer Pathway Course and first software apprenticeship programme that aims to drive participation in the tech sector.

The Orcid Partnership, the award-winning senior executive and non-executive search and leadership consultancy, has appointed a new head of leadership development, Andrew Tallents.

Andrew is renowned for his client-focused commitment to add value and to develop companies to reach their full potential and has a wealth of experience in developing the leadership capability of senior management teams and their boards.

He is an expert in the delivery of career development having led various projects focused on transforming leadership capability within organisations.

Andrew has considerable experience working in a wide variety of international companies across the world from start-ups to privately-owned companies and FTSE 100 organisations.

He is now charged with heading the leadership development at The Orcid Partnership to enable clients to close the gap between their current reality and their aspirations as leaders.

Brown Shipley, experts in wealth planning, investment management and lending, is pleased to announce the appointment of Toby Vaughan as its new chief investment officer. He will start his new role in October this year.

Toby will join from Santander Asset Management, where he is head of the multi-strategy solutions team.

He brings a wealth of experience, including being responsible for the oversight of more than £14bn of assets.

This covers a range of investment strategies from traditional multi-asset risk-profiled products through to more outcome-focused portfolios.

His broader experience covers a variety of areas, from lead management of portfolios, the development of investment processes, and the management of fund management teams.

In his 17 years in the fund management industry, Toby and his teams have received numerous accolades and industry recognition for the management of portfolios and process, both in the UK and internationally.

Prior to Santander Asset Management Toby was a principal fund manager at LV Asset Management, after starting his career at F&C Asset Management in 2001.

In his new role Toby will be responsible for Brown Shipley’s research and asset management unit, working closely with the firm’s 50 investment specialists, further strengthening Brown Shipley’s investment capabilities.

He will replace current CIO, Don Smith, who is leaving the business at the end of September after three years to pursue other career opportunities.

Toby’s appointment is the first senior hire made by Alan Mathewson since joining the business in April of this year from Santander UK where he worked as managing director, wealth management and private banking.

As of June 30, Brown Shipley had £7.8bn of assets under management.

Duff & Phelps, the global advisor that protects, restores and maximises value for clients, has announced that Paul Greenhalgh has joined the firm as a managing director in its real estate advisory group.

Based in Manchester, he will focus on real estate consulting for corporate clients, pension funds, private equity firms, hedge funds, banks and investment trusts.

He specialises in providing valuation advice to the main high street banks and building societies under a variety of scenarios, including distressed situations, asset management and secured lending. He has deep experience as an LPA receiver for a number of high street and challenger banks, peer-to-peer lenders and high net worth individuals.

Paul Clark, managing director, Duff & Phelps, said: “I am delighted to welcome Paul to the team. His experience and detailed knowledge of the property sector both nationally, and specifically in Manchester and the North West, will be a significant asset to Duff & Phelps and our clients.

Mr Greenhalgh joined Duff & Phelps from Eddisons, a leading UK-based firm of chartered surveyors, where he was a director in the valuations team. During his time at Eddisons he spent time on secondment with the Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Banking Group, where he undertook both banking and property related roles.

He is joined by two other former members of the Eddisons team, David Cran and Phil Kelly, both who join as directors based in the Manchester office of Duff & Phelps.

These additions further strengthen Duff & Phelps’ real estate advisory group, in addition to the recent appointment of John Slade as non-executive chairman in London.

Cushman & Wakefield has expanded its award-winning UK healthcare advisory team with the appointment of Katie Richardson as senior surveyor in its Manchester office.

Katie joins from the commercial naluation team at JLL having previously specialised in the healthcare sector.

She has experience of covering primary care, nursing and care homes and has a background in the valuation, acquisition and disposal of general commercial property.

Katie will be working alongside Gary Yeardley in the Manchester healthcare advisory team on the valuation of various healthcare assets for new and existing clients, such as major UK high street and challenger banks as well as overseas lenders, developers, private and corporate operators and various long-income investors.

Her arrival further boosts Cushman & Wakefield’s rapidly-expanding healthcare team which now has 15 sector specialists across the firm’s London, Bristol, Manchester and Glasgow offices since it was established two years ago.

The team advises on a diverse range of projects from private hospitals to diagnostics clinics, GP surgeries, care homes, NHS Trusts, local authorities and specialist care facilities.

It has valued or advised on nearly £3bn of asset value and recently won ‘Property Consultants of the Year – Capital Markets’ at the 2018 Health Investor Awards.
