Care group makes second acquisition in four months

Richard Walker, chief executive of Optimo Care Group

Northern care group Optimo has bought a Huddersfield domiciliary care provider as part of its continued expansion.

The purchase of Choices Home Care, for an undisclosed sum, is Optimo’s second acquisition in four months after it bought Wakefield-based Yorkshire Care and Support in April.

Optimo employs nearly 800 people across its three business – WarrenCare in Merseyside, Town and Local Care in Kirklees and Calderdale, and TLC Homecare in South Yorkshire – providing care and support to thousands of individuals.

Choices Home Care was founded in 1999 and provides specialist and complex home and community support focused on Kirklees and Wakefield. The sale sees its owner, Amanda Bunbury, retire from the business.

Richard Walker, chief executive of Optimo, said: “Amanda and I have known each other for many years and had often discussed that when the time was right Optimo would love to have Choices as part of our group.

“With a well-earned retirement now on the cards for Amanda we are so pleased to have such a well reputed service join us.”

Optimo was advised by Grant Thornton and Browne Jacobson. Optimo’s co-founder and director Mark Hales is the former owner of TheBusinessDesk.com.
