Former Liverpool nightspot has gone up for sale

Havelock Building

A former nightclub in Liverpool has been put up for sale after plans to turn it into a restaurant were abandoned.

The Cabin Club on Bold Street was one of the city’s best known nightspots for many years.

After the club closed in 2015 the building was refurbished with the aim of turning the property into a restaurant.

The revamp of the property, which is now known as the Havelock Building, has seen it opened up with floor to ceiling windows.

But after Bar Soba pulled the plug on the plans agency CBRE was called in to market the property.

The building was the birthplace of electrical engineering pioneer Sebastian De Ferranti in 1864.

Originally the building was set to be turned into a restaurant called Electric but the plan came to nothing.

CBRE is marketing the basement space to independent club and bar operators, while the ground and first floors are being offered as a package to restaurant and bar operators.

Nick Huddleston of CBRE said: “Bold Street has been transformed in recent years as Liverpool’s independent dining hub.

“We have saved the best site until last, however. Havelock Building enjoys a visibility and frontage like no other and such wide, open spaces simply aren’t available in Liverpool and we’re expecting strong occupier interest.”

Mr Huddlestone said the building’s new layout “maximises the scope for a show-stopping fit-out”.

He said: “The new windows will provide great visibility both from within and without and a strong, confident brand will know exactly how to maximise this and the space within.”
