Cross Bow Cottage sure to hit target with bidders

A characterful cottage that needs some tender loving care is likely to be in the sights of many bidders at SDL Auctions North West’s auction next month.

Cross Bow Cottage in Old Greaves Town Lane, Lea, Preston, is one of a number of refurbishment opportunities in the auction at the AJ Bell Stadium, Salford, on Wednesday, September 12.

It is a three-bedroomed cottage on a substantial plot, including front and large rear gardens, and is described by Andy Thompson, senior valuer at SDL Auctions North West, as a perfect project for a local property developer.

He said: “You really need to view this property to appreciate its potential. It is a unique and characterful three bedroomed semi-detached house on a good-sized plot.

“It is in need of renovating, which is why it is being offered for sale by auction with us.”

He added that the owners, a housing association, had chosen to offer it for sale by auction to ensure that on the fall of the hammer the property is sold.

“They had experienced a number of private buyers offering and subsequently backing out.

“The beauty of the auction route is that on the fall of the hammer you have to pay a 10% deposit, and have a fixed period, usually 28 days, within which to complete the transaction.”

The property is handily placed for local schools and amenities and is close to the centre of Preston.
