Dr Rana Hafeez Ur-Rehman with Stephen Tams of Barclays

A care home in Chorley has been acquired by three local doctors safeguarding the jobs of its 20 employees and the continuation of care for its 22 residents.

The Grange is a residential care home for people who require particular support for dementia and mental health care.

The home accommodates male and female residents with varying needs of respite, short term care and long term care.

With, undisclosed, financial support from Barclays, Dr Rana Hafeez Ur-Rehman, Dr Khalid Sultan and Dr Arshad Mahmood have purchased the property and taken over the running of the care home.

The home specialises in Dementia care (DOLS) and the doctors can use their network of professionals to ensure this care service is enhanced and becomes one of the best around.

Dr Rana Hafeez Ur-Rehman said: “We are very excited to embark upon this new venture and can bring additional specialist knowledge to the care home to continue with the high standards of care.

“Our priority is improving the quality of life for those who choose to reside with us, maintaining their privacy, dignity and ability to manage their own lives.”

He added: “It’s fantastic that Barclays has been able to support us on this exciting new journey.”

Stephen Tams, Barclays business manager, said: “We are delighted to work with Dr Rana Hafeez Ur-Rehman, Dr Khalid Sultan and Dr Arshad Mahmood and provide a full banking package.

“This deal demonstrates Barclays’ understanding of the sector and commitment to healthcare businesses.

“Having a focused industry specialism enables us to understand the current social and economic headwinds experienced by operators.”
