Manchester to get first Veggie Pret outside of London

Veggie Pret

Sandwich shop Pret A Manger has announced it is opening its first veggie branch outside of London in Manchester.

The Veggie Pret will be in Deansgate and will have an all-vegetarian offering, with a menu featuring dishes such as butternut and cauliflower gratin and spicy halloumi and pepper baguette.

The branch will be in the existing shop and it will offer vegan options such as dairy-free mac and cheese and a spicy chakalaka bean wrap with red pepper, roasted butternut squash, baby spinach and coconut yoghurt.

The first Veggie Pret opened in Soho and two more followed in Shoreditch and Exmouth Market last year.

The aim is to tap into the growing trend for all things vegetarian and vegan and Manchester was chosen due to demand on social media.

Hannah Dolan, head of food development at Pret A Manger, said: “When we asked customers on social media where they’d like to see the next Veggie Pret, Manchester was the top request.

“We’re delighted to be able to reveal today that the city is our next location.

“Veggie Pret is still growing and the future is looking as green as ever. We want customers to keep telling us what they think – and where they’d like to see Veggie Pret next.”

The shop will open for business next month.
