Main road in Cumbria closed after five car accident

A main road in Cumbria has been closed following an accident involving five cars.

The A66 has been closed between B6412 (Temple Sowerby) and B6542 (Appleby-In-Westmorland) following the accident.

Cumbria Police are currently on scene and dealing with the collision.

Diversion routes are in place.

Eastbound traffic is advised to head south on the M6 to J38 (Tebay) and join the A685. Continue northeasterly to Brough and rejoin the A66.

West bound traffic is advised to follow the above route in reverse.

Police are advising motorists to allow extra time for their journeys if travelling in the region.
