Global engineering giant swoops for Manchester firm

Engineering giant DYWIDAG-Systems International has announced the acquisition of Manchester global monitoring company – Datum Group.

Datum was founded in 1999 by its current owner and chief executive Rory O’Rourke.

The firm provides monitoring services to the mining, rail and construction sectors.

With offices in Manchester and London its 100 strong work force has grown the business into a leading construction and transport monitoring specialist.

Mr O’Rourke said: “DSI is an impressive business with a history of excellence built on reputation and as a pivotal component of its Global Services Division, will enable Datum to expand and grow to meet the vast opportunities presented to the company by HS2 and other major projects.

“Together DSI and Datum are well positioned to deliver innovation and technology to meet the challenges set by the customers of each company across the world.”

Sanjay Razdan, president of Global Services DYWIDAG-Systems International, said: “We welcome the Datum team into DYWIDAG-Systems International.

“Datum’s products and services, including Infrastructural Health Monitoring, are added to our portfolio of Global Services to enhance safety, savings and sustainability of our customers.”

DYWIDAG-Systems International supplies products and systems for the construction industry.

It provides the customers with engineered and highly reliable systems for post-tensioning, geotechnical applications, global services and concrete accessories.

Datum Group provide state of the art monitoring and measuring solutions for engineering assets and infrastructure.
