Waste firm CSG in deal for Prescot-based Remondis

13/07/17 CSG - Warrington

Waste management company CSG has acquired Liverpool-based industrial waste specialist Remondis UK.

The deal, for an undisclosed sum, represents a further step in CSG’s ambitious growth plans and a continuation of its expansion in terms of national coverage and diversity of operations.

CSG operates a flagship waste treatment facility and North West regional base at Cadishead.

Prescot-based Remondis UK provides specialist recycling of hazardous and photographic waste, silver recovery and trans-frontier shipments (TFS).

Currently operating from CSG’s Cadishead site, Remondis was the first company in the UK to be granted a TFS licence, permitting it to transfer hazardous waste out of the UK for processing or use in energy generation overseas.

Neil Richards, CSG’s managing director, said: “This acquisition ensures CSG remains at the forefront of waste recovery and recycling.

“The processing capability delivered by Remondis perfectly complements our existing specialist services and enables us to offer a complete range of waste management solutions for industrial customers.

“Like us, the Remondis Group is a family-run business, dedicated to the recovery of raw materials and minimising waste going to landfill, so we see excellent potential in this deal to grow and develop CSG over coming months and years, especially in the area of diverting waste for use in energy generation.”

He added: “Our ambition remains to grow a sustainable, innovative and prosperous business while maintaining a high level of commitment to customers, shareholders, employees and the environment. This latest acquisition enhances those plans.”

CSG was founded as a one-man sewage collection business in rural Hampshire more than 80 years ago and now employs a national workforce of nearly 500 people.

The company is one of the largest privately-owned industrial and domestic environmental waste management groups in Britain, operating from 27 sites across the UK.
