Developer submits plans for £7m housing scheme

The proposed scheme

Manchester-based Qualis Developments, in partnership with property consultancy Knight Knox, has submitted a planning application to Salford City Council for a new residential scheme near MediaCityUK.

If approved, the £7m development will be Qualis’ first project in Greater Manchester and will comprise 44 one- and two-bedroom apartments, as well as a courtyard with parking to the rear, a communal garden and bicycle storage.

The currently vacant site that’s been earmarked for development is located opposite Langworthy Metrolink tram station, on the corner of Langworthy Road and Eccles New Road.

The submission comes after Qualis’ flagship Great Central scheme in Sheffield received unanimous approval from Sheffield City Council, with construction having recently commenced and more than 50% of the apartments having already been sold.

The Langworthy Road application has been submitted by CODA Planning, with the consultant team, managed by Broadfield Project Management, being made up of Dragonfly Consulting, Betts, DTPC and Arbtech.

Knight Knox will act as the agent for the scheme following 10 years of experience working with its developer partners in locations across the UK.

Andy Phillips, commercial director at Qualis Developments, said: “We’re really excited to have submitted plans for our first development in Greater Manchester.

“Being located just across the road from a Metrolink station makes it ideal for professionals looking for a short commute to Manchester city centre, or for those who work down the road in Salford Quays.

“The development will serve as a reasonably priced alternative to similar properties in Manchester city centre and directly on the Quays, but with all the same amenities and high spec interiors you’d expect of modern, quality accommodation.”
