Popular eaterie launches crowdfunding campaign to expand dockside facilities

The Delifonseca team

Delifonseca is calling on the foodie community in the North West to support its dockside extension by launching a crowdfunding campaign with a difference.

As a long-standing venue and pioneer of Liverpool’s food and drink scene, Delifonseca hopes to raise £150,000 towards its ambitious £500,000 expansion plans that will ensure it remains one of the region’s most forward-thinking culinary ventures.

The updated site will house a purpose-built kitchen that will be essential in training new chefs, as well as providing a new bar area and increased dining capacity to accommodate the restaurant’s growing popularity.

Proprietor Candice Fonseca said: “We are incredibly excited to be getting things off the ground with our latest project, especially because this has been something that I have wanted to do for quite some time now.

“Since Delifonseca was established, we have become a prominent part of Liverpool’s community and our customers have become more like family to us, which is why we want them to continue to be a part of our journey and help propel us to the next level.

“It’s no secret that we are in a time of economic uncertainty and this has had a bearing on the hospitality, restaurant and bar sector, but we are determined to remain at the forefront of the food and drink scene – our extension plans will afford us to do just that.”

She added: “Here at Delifonseca we don’t do anything by halves, which is why our plans are so incredibly ambitious.

“We are putting a lot into this bold new move and we believe our customers are the missing ingredient.

“The general public has the power to play an important part in securing the longevity of Delifonseca, whilst pledging for a one-of-a-kind reward.”

Delifonseca will be crowdfunding through Kickstarter, which launched on November 7, offering a range of rewards including gifts, dining packages, events and experiences.

The proposed extension

From the likes of branded aprons and dinner for two, to a personal visit from Delifonseca’s very own Tom Ford and Martin Cooper for an at-home dinner party, the campaign will be one to watch. There is even an exclusive trip to Bollinger up for grabs.

Candice added: “As a restaurant and deli, our entire business depends on the custom of the public who have been incredibly supportive over the last 12 years.

“We don’t want their support to end here and we need them to make this new chapter as successful as possible.

“This expansion will be able to ensure the future of Delifonseca – it gives us a lovely, larger restaurant but, just as importantly, it gives us a great ‘back of house’ and kitchen where we can train and nurture the future talents of the Liverpool food scene.”
