Healthcare group expands with medtech acquisition

A medtech business which has developed innovative software that has been widely adopted by healthcare bodies has been bought for £4.4m.

BroadCare has been developed by Bray Leino Software in Nantwich, Cheshire, but its parent company The Mission Marketing Group decided it was non-core and would be “better suited to an organisation already providing a wide range of services to the NHS”.

It has been bought by CHS Healthcare, a home care business based in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands that also runs the Caretrack database.

BroadCare is a tracking and reporting system specially designed for managing all aspects of NHS-funded continuing healthcare. It is used by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and Commissioning Support Units (CSUs) across the country, linking them with care homes to provide clear information about costs and care.

It grew out of the development of Funded Nursing Care Manager for Knowsley Primary Care Trust – primary care trusts have since evolved into CCGs – and BroadCare now provides services to 140 CCGs. The business generated profits of £0.5m last year.
