Liverpool developer Elliot Group has opened the first of two hotels it has planned for the city.

The £20m Seel St Hotel, managed by EPIC Hospitality Group, welcomed its first guests this week in time for Liverpool FC’s victory over Napoli.

“We had more than 120 supporters booked in from around the world and they returned to the hotel more than happy,” said Simon Beer, EPIC’s managing director.

The 128-room hotel, in the city’s historic Ropewalks neighbourhood, boasts rooftop hotel suites with terraces providing unobstructed city views, plus a residents’ bar and gym.

The new property is the latest phase to open in the £100m transformation of Wolstenholme Square, being linked to the square via a new pedestrian passageway from Seel Street.

“We’re delighted to bring such a high quality product to the market,” added Simon Beer.

“The design values, fit-out quality and service standards will re-define the luxury boutique sector in the city and early bookings are considerably ahead of forecast.”

Elliot Lawless, of Elliot Group, said the investment will “add another dimension” to his wider vision for Wolstenholme Square.

“This makes it a truly mixed-use scheme and completes the jigsaw puzzle,” he said.

“The property offers contemporary luxury and lots of nice design touches and sits really well in what is a very eclectic neighbourhood, from an architectural standpoint.

“We’re rubbing shoulders with everything from Queen Ann onwards.

“It’s a key part of our ambition to turn the whole area in to a thriving hub for independent operators, and where better to start than with the hotel,” he said.

EPIC is also working with Elliot Group on the delivery of the first hotel in Liverpool’s Baltic neighbourhood, the city’s technology hub and home to dozens of leadings games designers and web businesses.

The £70m, 306-bedroom property will enjoy stunning views across Liverpool’s south docks to the Welsh mountains and will also offer guests a roof-top pool, spa and lounge.
