‘Scouse Bird’ blogger takes retail space for shop launch

Blogger and media personality Steph Bannister, otherwise known as Scouse Bird Problems, has taken retail space in Crosby Village.

The Liverpudlian started out as an anonymous social media blogger and has become well-known for her posts about life as a ‘Scouse Bird’.

The Scouse Bird Shop is located in Telegraph House and will stock a range of Scouse Bird merchandise, including her diaries, Scouse mugs and gifts from other local entrepreneurs.

The Crosby shop is Bannister’s second premises in Merseyside and follows on from the popularity of her Aintree store.

She also opened a hair and beauty salon last year, which will be moving to Crosby in the near future and will be located next door but one to the shop.

The letting of the space follows St. Modwen’s investment in the village, which started with the redevelopment of the Glenn Buildings and construction of 10 Moor Lane.

The company acquired the site and secured planning approval from Sefton Council in June 2017 to create 24,775 sq ft of retail, leisure and office space in the area.

Bannister said: “I’m so excited to be moving to Crosby. I’ve been running this business for nearly seven years now but only opened up a physical location about 18 months ago.

“It’s one of my new year’s goals to throw myself into the local community and make it better. I hope this will be the first step. There’s a totally different vibe here in Crosby than in some other parts of Liverpool, it’s really friendly, welcoming and supportive and I want to inject my own brand of fun and energy here.”

Andrew Day, asset manager for St. Modwen, said: “Steph and her Scouse Bird brand will be a fantastic addition to Crosby village, and we’re delighted to be supporting this young, local entrepreneur. Liverpudlians have a soft spot for Scouse Bird Problems to say the least, and so we’re confident that she will thrive in her new home.

“St. M0dwen has invested significantly into the village, and it is evident that the regeneration of Crosby is resonating with businesses; as well as Scouse Bird, last year we welcomed Frankie’s, The Blues Bar, Village Vets, Peacocks, Hallmark, Costa Coffee and more.

“We’re thrilled with the success of the scheme and are looking forward to continuing its development throughout 2019.”
