A new multi-storey car park has been completed in Salford.

NCP and The English Cities Fund today announced the completion of the Stanley Street multi-storey car park at the fund’s New Bailey development.

The English Cities Fund is a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal and General and Homes England.

The car park will bring 633 new spaces to the development and will be NCP’s third new build multi-storey car park in the area.

The car park was built by Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure, the chosen contractor for this phase of the New Bailey development, and was completed two weeks ahead of schedule.

The initial New Bailey car park, which includes 615 spaces and is also operated by NCP, was designed by RHWL and was also delivered by Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure.

With the New Bailey car park already running close to capacity, the new Stanley Street site, which has been designed by AHR Architects, will increase the parking supply in the area, providing customers with more choice as to where and when they park.

The car park  uses energy efficient LED lighting and is fitted with six electric vehicle charging points, along with 20 wide bays to make sure it meets the diverse needs of customers.

The new site also offers the latest customer-focused payments facilities, including Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), so those who sign up can make automated payments when they park – removing the need for them to visit kiosks or payment machines.

Adam Robson, head of new builds at NCP, said: “The completion of the new Stanley Street car park marks NCP’s second multi-story car park within the New Bailey development, and our third new build in the wider Salford and Manchester area.

“We have seen ever-increasing demand within the region and are committed to meeting this through our wider portfolio-expansion strategy whereby we are looking to double the number of car parks within our estate.

Phil Mayall, regional director at The English Cities Fund, said: “This is yet another milestone in the New Bailey regeneration programme.

“The first office scheme, One New Bailey is close to full occupancy, Two New Bailey Square has now started on site and the development of Riverside House is also underway.

“In addition, the residential offering, The Slate Yard, is proving extremely successful, with both the first and second phases nearly full.

“With all of this activity, the population and footfall are increasing rapidly in the area and with that comes the requirement for parking, so we are very pleased to announce that the second NCP car park at New Bailey has reached completion.”
