A Manchester law firm has opened its first London office in the West End of London following its acquisition in December by professional services multinational, ETL Global.

Glaisyers opens its Welbeck Street premises this month and will initially be staffed by members of Glaisyers’ existing team, but the firm is looking to acquire a London law firm to support its anticipated growth.

David Jones, head of litigation, said: “Establishing an office in London allows us to support the requirements of the international clients we are now working with following the recent acquisition.

“We will also be looking to take advantage of our international connections by working with other companies across the ETL Group who are based in London, such as SBL Carston and MGR Weston Kay, giving us a great opportunity for organic growth.”

The firm’s London office will offer all of the current services currently provided by its North West office, but in addition is looking to work with multinational companies in Spain, Poland, the Netherlands and Germany with UK subsidiaries.

It anticipates an increase in requirements from these organisations as they tackle contractual changes which will be determined by the outcome of Brexit.

David Jones added: “It’s a very exciting time for the firm to develop its proposition around ETL’s international client base.

“We would anticipate the London office to grow to about 15-20 people over the next 12 months as we establish the firm’s credentials across our commercial and private client offering.”

Glaisyers was established in Manchester more than 40 years ago. ETL Global and lawyers David Jones and David Marlor acquired the firm in December 2018.
