A ceremony has been held to mark the near completion of a 14 storey building in Liverpool.

Create Construction and Niveda hosted a topping out ceremony at the Norton Street development in Liverpool.

Guests included representatives from the funding, design, construction, project delivery and subcontractor teams, as well as members of the Fresh Student Living team, the company who will manage the building.

The new student flats are close to both Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Liverpool campuses.

Once complete, the newly branded Calico building will offer 738 rooms over 220,000 square feet on two blocks of eight, 11 and 15 storeys.

The accommodation will include up-to-the-minute interior design features as well as public areas, gym, laundry and ground floor shop

A spokesman said: “The topping out ceremony was a huge success with a high turnout from those keen to see how construction is progressing and to learn about the facilities which will be on offer for students choosing to live at Calico.”

Create Construction has brought to the table their considerable experience in the delivery of high-volume accommodation – and continue to extend their pipeline of work as the company maintains its impressive growth, including a recently secured second student accommodation project for Niveda at Renshaw Hall, Benson Street, Liverpool, due for completion in August 2020.

Adrian Tottey from Create said: “The Calico building at Norton Street is our biggest construction project to date.

“It is fantastic that we have reached the topping out stage on this project for Niveda and Fresh.”
