Waste management firm expands with latest acquisition

Waste management company CSG has acquired off-mains wastewater treatment specialists Hutchinson Environmental Solutions, for an undisclosed sum.

Caddishead-based CSG is one of the largest privately-owned industrial and domestic environmental waste management groups in Britain and it says the deal demonstrates the company’s commitment to ambitious growth plans.

Neil Richards, CSG’s managing director, said: “Hutchinson Environmental Solutions has an unrivalled reputation across the North of England and Scotland, and we have worked in partnership with the company for a number of years, with CSG covering more of the South.

“This acquisition creates the only national company providing the full supply, installation, service and maintenance of wastewater treatment.

“Bringing together the Hutchinson team, along with CSG’s network of operating facilities, will deliver a nationwide consistency of service for domestic and industrial customers.

Hexham-based Hutchinson is recognised for its expertise in the design, installation and maintenance of off-mains wastewater treatment solutions, sewage treatment plants, package pump stations and pollution prevention systems.

The company was co-owned by Peter Stedman and Doddie Weir.

Neil Richards added: “I am particularly pleased that 26 Hutchinson employees will be continuing with the business, along with Peter Steadman, whose contribution to the company since he joined in 1996 has been instrumental in its growth and success.”

Peter Stedman said: “We have enjoyed working with CSG for many years – great people and great culture – so we are really excited about where the future will take us.”

CSG was founded as a one-man sewage collection business in rural Hampshire 85 years ago and now employs a national workforce of nearly 500 people, operating from 27 sites across the UK.
