M56 Westbound closed due to a serious incident

The M56 in Manchester is closed westbound between J1 and J2, Wythenshawe, due to a serious incident which is being led by North West Motorway Police Group.

Traffic is being diverted via the hollow square diversion symbol.

At M56 J1, follow the diversion signs and continue onto the M60 clockwise and then leave the M60 clockwise at J6.

At the M60 J6, take the third exit onto the link road to M60 J6/A6144, then take the second exit onto the M60 anti-clockwise to J5.

Leave the M60 anti-clockwise at J5 and join the A5103 SB Princess Parkway.

Follow the A5103 Princess parkway and rejoin the M56 at J3A.
