Liverpool to get new four star hotel

Duke Street, Liverpool

A new luxury four star hotel is to be built in Liverpool city centre.

Developer Legacie Developments has announced plans to turn a car park in Duke Street into a luxury four-star hotel.

Legacie is planning to transform the site – which has been an eyesore for over ten years – into a thriving hotel and leisure complex.

The hotel will have 250 bedrooms and other amenities and the multimillion pound scheme will add to the regeneration of the area.

The new-build hotel – which will form part of the city centre’s key route network – signals the latest regeneration proposal for the top part of Duke Street.

Over recent years the area has attracted a mix of independent hotels, new restaurants and shops.

The proposal will go to Liverpool City Council’s planning committee in the coming months.

The developer has been successful in delivering a string of high-profile residential schemes across the city – including Ropemaker Place on Renshaw Street, Reliance House on Water Street and the forthcoming Parliament Square development in the Baltic triangle.

If all goes to plan work will start on the hotel in the late summer.

Legacie Developments founder John Morley, said: “We are very excited to be bringing forward proposals which will help finish the remaining chapter of Duke Street’s regeneration story.

“Our hotel development will add to the burgeoning offer of restaurants, bars and independent chains which already exist.

“The car park has been a real blight in the area for far too long, and a hotel will not only alleviate the lack of top quality hotel rooms available but will help drive additional footfall and boost the local economy.

“I believe our proposals will help inject some excitement into what has proved to be an incredibly popular part of the city centre in recent years.”

Legacie Developments say over two-hundred jobs will be created as part of the building process.
