All change at the top for property developer

Nigel Franklin

Developer Muse has announced a series of changes at the top of the company.

The regeneration specialist has announced that its current joint managing director, Nigel Franklin is to retire after 34 years.

Matt Crompton will become the sole managing director and regional directors, Phil Mayall from the North West and Mike Auger in the South, will take a seat on the board.

Residential development director Duncan Cumberland will move up to the management team.

Joining the business as a development surveyor in 1985, Nigel, worked on an extensive portfolio, before being appointed to the board in 1988 and joint managing director in December 2006, with responsibility for all development activities in the South and Scotland.

Nigel is also the chairman of Waterside Places – a joint venture with the Canal & River Trust, which is responsible for landmark developments including Brentford Lock West and Hale Wharf.

He said: “As we head into another promising year, with a robust five-year business plan, it is very rewarding to know that I will leave with the business in such good shape.

“Over the years, there have been many highs and lows, but thankfully considerably more of the former. I am leaving behind a talented and dynamic team of people that will be taking the company to the next level.

Matt Crompton said: “It has been a pleasure to work alongside Nigel and I thank him for his vision and support over the years and wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.

“It’s a new chapter in the Muse story, and I’m delighted to welcome both Phil and Mike onto the board of directors, along with Duncan to the board of management. I’m sure their experience and tenacity will help to propel the business forward beyond 2019.”
