Vegan restaurant closes less than a year after launch

Folk & Soul

A vegan restaurant in Manchester’s Northern Quarter has closed less than a year after opening for business.

Folk & Soul moved into the former Odd Bar site on Thomas Street last May.

The restaurant and bar served a menu of entirely plant-based bar food.

As well as a seasonal menu, the restaurant also served a range of vegan cocktails and vegan baked goods from Silver Apples Bakery.

It was launched by Matt Nickson and his wife Annabel Holland, the founders of the nearby jazz club Matt & Phreds.

The closure was announced on the restaurant’s Instagram page. It is the latest in a number of restaurant closures across the city.

The post hinted that the restaurant would be back in another form either as a street food venture or pop up restaurant.

The post read: “Hi everyone. As of now this version of Folk & Soul is closed. We’ve had an amazing time and met the most wonderful people you could ever imagine.

“We will be back and expect to find us in the most unexpected places! See you all soon. Matt and Annabel.”

Folk & Soul was launched with the aim of offering Manchester food based on a sustainable plant based diet.
